DIY doTERRA Essential Oil Shower Gel

A bubble bath can be a fun experience for children and part of a relaxing evening for adults. Commercial bubble baths are often full of artificial chemicals and fragrances that can irritate the skin. If you would like to reduce the amount of chemicals in your home while still enjoying the pleasant experience of a bubble bath, we will show you doTERRA's recipe for making your own bubble bath with essential oils and skin-friendly ingredients.

Although you could add essential oil directly to bathwater, essential oils are not water-soluble, so they do not dissolve in water on their own. To solve this, they are usually added to soap and then introduced into the water. In this DIY bubble bath, however, the other ingredients help the oil disperse evenly in the water.

Using essential oils while bathing is an especially good choice if you want to create a certain mood. For example:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unscented castile soap*

  • ½ cup vegetable glycerin

  • 2 tablespoons water

  • 15 drops of any doTERRA essential oil of your choice

* A natural, plant-based soap. Castile soap dissolves well in water, is gentle, and provides an excellent base for homemade personal-care or cleaning products — such as bubble bath, soaps or liquid detergents.

Preparation

  1. Mix the castile soap, glycerin and water in a glass bowl.

  2. Add the essential oils.

  3. Mix thoroughly.

  4. Pour into a glass storage container.

Use: Add ¼-½ cup of the essential-oil bubble bath to warm running bathwater.

Note: This bubble bath will not create a huge, long-lasting cloud of foam, because it does not contain the synthetic ingredients that produce large amounts of bubbles. However, this chemical-free solution provides enough bubbles for a pleasant, relaxing bath that you will enjoy even more.
